The form of folk art known as Madubhani, originating from the Mithila region in the Northern Bihar state, is the dominating aesthetic of this beautiful cotton saree. The gold, silver and metallic patterns have been painted on the off-white body using fingers, twigs, pens and nib brushes in expressing different aspects of nature and local culture. The gold border and pallu serve their purpose of imbuing a hint of rich heritage as is typical of Madubhani styling. Best suited for the day and much more if the event demands a certain conveyance of spirituality and sensitivity to culture.
