For the finest Chikan textiles, one must travel to Lucknow, the heart of North Indian art and culture, where the technique has been perfected over centuries. Traditional artisans would work together, each with skilled fingers laying a series of stiches in turn. Around thirty-five stitches make up the intricate art of Chikan and can be grouped into three: flat stitches, raised and embossed stitches, and ‘jaalis’, the open, trellis-like stitches in which tiny holes are opened in the cloth.

Each piece of Chikan work fabric, boasts a floral pattern or motif and is a true labour of love.
