Rithihi is a fascinating and absolutely gorgeous store.It has a fabulous selection of sarees, fabrics, ready to wear garments, a large part of which is hand picked by Valli. I like to say she has exceedingly good taste, which sometimes makes choices a lot more difficult. Also, Rithihi represents diverse India well.

A shop retaining the spirit of India but not only. RITHIHI is a key figure bringing many narratives on handcrafted textiles. Each piece is special and is selected with great care. There are traditional pieces and contemporary ones.
I am not Sri Lankan nor Indian but I am in love with their textiles, textures, patterns. Wearing a piece is sharing a cultural dimension and collective memories.

Think about what you learned about finding little comforts, spending more time with your folk, simplicity and everyday joy. For us, that beautiful at-home mood is captured perfectly in these adorable kurtas made from Jaipur handblock printed handwoven cotton.

Colour feels
Colour is one of the most delightful aspects of how we sense the world around us. ‘Light of a particular wavelength’ is a simple enough way to explain colour. But, our experience of it is anything but simple. In the fraction of a second that it takes for our brain to identify light of seven hundred nanometers as the colour red, it would grow into a complex, many-layered idea. To some of us, it will become a symbol of love or desire; to another, it would come with associations of anger. One may find that their idea of the colour red is shaped by the memory of dear someone, immortalised within a treasured moment. It would translate as the heroic passion to one culture, while to another it will come uncomfortably close to a force of oppression.
